Hi, my name is Judy and I run a friendly and professional physiotherapy clinic based near Kelso.

I have many years of experience having worked as a senior clinician in the NHS as well as my private work and specialize in the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal problems, with a special interest in chronic/persistent pain.

An initial treatment session would include gaining a full understanding of your condition by listening to your story followed by a thorough physical examination. Following this, appropriate treatment will be given aiming to educate you in understanding the cause of the problem, ease your pain and then help you to adopt a new approach to avoid recurrence.

Depending on the condition one session may be enough but if further sessions are required this will be discussed and agreed with you.

Treatments will include education and management of your presenting condition, and may include manual therapy, soft tissue massage, appropriate exercises, postural work, acupuncture, electro-therapy, and lifestyle changes. For chronic/persistent pain, the treatment approach is different.

Conditions treated include:

  • Sports injuries

  • Neck and back pain

  • Shoulder and rotator cuff problems

  • Tendinopathies

  • Muscle strains/tears

  • Joint pain including arthritis/sprains

  • Rheumatology/inflammatory conditions

  • Rehabilitation following orthopaedic surgery

  • Chronic/persistent pain

Treatment

Pain Management

My special interest is working with people who suffer from persistent pain . Persistent pain is any pain that has been ongoing for more than three months either constant or intermittent, be it back and neck, joint pain, fibromyalgia, headaches, failed spinal surgery, for example.  I do this by using various evidence based techniques which support reducing pain, for example cognitive functional therapy. Once I have helped you become more in control of your pain, we can then work together on building body strength and resilience.

Many people with chronic pain have seen physios, osteopaths, chiropractors, massage therapists, and NHS specialists and nothing has helped and this is where I can step in.

If you are unsure whether the type of pain you have could be helped by this approach, you can ring me to discuss.

Consultations

Initial assessments are best done face-to-face, however I can offer telephone consultations as an initial assessment if preferred. Sometimes diagnosis and advice on management can be ascertained from this call without needing further follow up. If a face to face appointment is required it can then be booked.

Home visits can also be arranged when appropriate.

Treatment costs are as follows:

  • ½ hour telephone consultation £35.

  • Initial face to face assessment and treatment 1 hour £60.

  • Follow up appointments 30 mins £35, 40 mins £45, 1 hour £60.
